Finding Your Tree

Grab one of our measuring poles. Although our trees are tagged in the field by size, there can be some variation, so it’s always great to make sure the tree you want is the size you need. The pole also serves another important purpose: getting the attention of one of our tree cutting staff when you’re ready for a cut!

Time to look! You can walk into our tree fields on foot, or pick up the hayride. The hayride runs on certain dates, which can be found on our calendar.

Find a tree with a colored tag - these are the trees that are available to cut this year. If there’s not a colored tag in the tree, it is not available this season. The tags coordinate with size and price (see our prices here!)

When you’ve found “the one”, wave your pole back and forth in a broad motion. This signals to our cutting staff that you are ready for them. On very busy days, such as Black Friday, it can take some extra time for a staff person to become available, but we welcome you to embrace the chaos and we will get to you as soon as possible!

Once your tree is cut, the staff member will provide a tag - the top part stays with your tree, the bottom part goes with you. Hand this to the most responsible person in your group - you don’t want to lose it!

Take your ticket inside the Red Barn to pay for your tree (and maybe find some wreaths, roping, or gift shop items, too!)

Show your ticket to a staff member at the bailer to match your tree. We always like to see your ticket so we can double-check the numbers to make sure you get the exact tree you picked out in the tree field.
